I always enjoyed making things and spent many years browsing sidewalk art shows and lots of craft festivals to see beautiful things others had created. At these events I bought some things I initially was not confident I could make, but once I applied my creative talents, I realized it was possible.
Over time, I started quilting, crocheting, knitting, basket weaving (yes, it is a real craft!), making wreaths, aromatherapy products, weaving, enameling, and scrap booking. I also enjoyed doing cross-stitch, and even making teddy bears. One day, I found Jewelry! I took one class, and then another, and another. I met Christina in one of the early classes and a friendship grew as we honed our skills. One day after we made more jewelry than we could ever wear....we began showing our designs at local craft shows. Now I have been designing jewelry for over 6 years.
I primarily enjoy working with silver metal and designing in fall colors for myself, but I do like mixing things up... Lately I am exploring viking knitting, kumihimo, polymer clay, metal, fused glass, and creating other mixed media designs. As a proud owner of three adorable cats, I also love that I am able to create fun cat jewelry and give back to a worthy charity at the same time.

Notice anything interesting about that pile of random items ---- bits of silver metal, purple stones, sea glass, and other baubles? No….?
Well, to my eye, they define a beautiful bracelet, necklace, or other special jewelry item that is fashioned from an integration of various colors, shapes, and sizes.
Design for me is an intersection of scientific logic and reasoning and visual awareness. The outward artistic expression of what I see internally is often influenced by and adapted to the type of creative media on hand. Where others might see chaos, I see endless possibilities, limitless options, and symmetry, and by my very nature, I am compelled to create something distinctive immediately. That said, as I continue to hone my skills and grow as a designer, I also have learned the value of having the patience required to allow my vision of the full design to evolve.
For almost six years I have been creating one-of-a-kind classic and modern jewelry designs for men, women, and children of all ages. As an environmental scientist, I prefer using natural materials such as sea glass, pearls, wood, and stones in my collections since these bring a sense of the earth to my work. Many of my designs are developed in rich jewel tones especially purple and reds, as well as calming earth tones of beige, tan, and browns for balance. I also like to integrate crystals with stone beads to make simple designs more interesting, formal, and fun!
My jewelry pieces include beads in a wide variety of textures, shapes, and sizes. Since I feel things deeply, it is no surprise that I routinely include heart shapes in my designs. My enthusiasm for metal work and stamping allow me to create personalized bracelets, earrings, and pendants. One of my specialties is wire wrapping, and I love incorporating copper wire in my jewelry because of the warmness of the raw metal.
I also enjoy using techniques such as kumihimo and mokumi and working with other media such as clay and fused glass to create my designs.
My award-winning creations are part of several private collections.
